Australian Employers Finding It Hard To Find The People With The Right Skills

If you are a small and medium-sized enterprise owner, you might have noticed it has become a bit more difficult to do. This is not an isolated thing. According to the Hays Global Skill Index, the Australian job market has a talent mismatch score of 5.6. This is the fifth year in a row that Australia has posted an increase in the talent mismatch score.

Not Enough Skilled Professionals

Talent mismatch is the probability that a potential employee does not have the skills necessary for a particular job. The score is an increase from last year and continues the trend for this particular rating to rise. The index scores by a rating of 1 to 10, with 1 as the lowest and 10 being the highest.

The other number to be concerned about is the overall index score, which is at a high of 5.7. The last time it was this high was back in 2012. This indicates that there is an increase in demand for highly skilled people for high-skill jobs.

The high demand also pushed up the wages for these jobs, making it a bit harder for some employers. This is reflected in the high 8.7 scores on wage pressure for jobs that require highly skilled individuals. Additionally, the employment trend has reached 2.5 percent according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics. This 0.5 percent is higher than the projected level.

The increased pressure on the job market is making it difficult for a lot of employers to find the skilled people that they need for their job in their local talent pool. If they do find someone they need, they will often have to compete with other employers by offering higher wages.

Don’t Limit Yourself

As an employer, you don’t want to deal with all of that. You want to hire the guy that you need to complete your team –  at a reasonable cost. However, with the local talent pool so limited, this can be difficult.

This is where Remote Staff can come in to help. Why limit yourself to local talent? If the job can be done remotely, you will most likely find it easier and more affordable to connect with a virtual employee and have them work for you. Whether it is to design and maintain your company website or to keep your books balanced, this can be done even with the employee, not in the same country.
